UCONN HEALTH CENTER SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY

Project Features:

The project consisted of a complete renovation to the School of Dentistry at UConn Health Center in Farmington, CT. A new 4000A electrical service was installed in the existing basement along with 3-1200 AMP automatic transfer switches that were fed from the UConn Tower generators. A makeover to the main lobby, new lighting and lighting controls, emergency power, seventy-five new dental chair stations, and new administrative offices upgraded the forty-year-old building with state of the art dental technology.

Project Challenges:

  • As an active medical facility housing a 24 hour/day Cardiac Catheterization Lab, the project required that renovations to the building be coordinated over four phases in order to avoid disruption of its daily operations.
  • New electrical risers (normal and emergency) were installed in two separate parts of the building while maintaining the existing electrical system until a changeover could take place.
